November!

Hey Folks!

Sadly, I've been neglecting this blog and I'm sorry for that, but I'm hoping to use it a lot more again.

So here in Authorland, November means NaNoWriMo (National Novel Writing Month). I've only technically participated in NaNoWriMo about twice. And I actually finished it (meaning, I actually wrote 50,000 words) ... once. Sad, isn't it?

Well, this year I am going to give it a shot. I'll be cheating a little because I have a book that needs finishing, so I won't necessarily be starting a brand new project this month, and I also have edits coming on a book sometime soonish, so we'll see how long I can write before having to switch gears.


It feels as if, with each book published, I'm able to just WRITE less and less easily. I fiddle with every sentence, worry over every word choice, analyze the plot constantly. I love NaNoWriMo for the purity of its lesson: let the muse lead you, and worry about fixing it all up later.

I LOVE HALLOWEEN!!!
Who doesn't, right? But really, I love it. I'm a huge fan of spooky, although I don't really get into gore. Since kiddo has gotten older, we have a ball with Halloween, especially pumpkins and costumes.

This was last year's pumpkin. We had a great time carving it!



And this is last year's costume. Kiddo was a bug-eyed scientist like from the movie Monsters vs. Aliens and I loved it because he made the costume all on his own!

This year we haven't carved our pumpkin yet and we're still looking for ideas. What do you think of these by John Neill?? (from http://www.boredpanda.com/creepy-pumpkin-carvings-jon-neill/ ) These are going to be way beyond my artistic ability.

In Bed with the Competition

My contemporary island romance, In Bed with the Competition, is available June 30! I'm so excited, and I wanted to share a little bit about what brought this story out of me.

It's about two friends who were on the verge of something more, but couldn't quite make the leap of faith in one another. A year later, they're business competitors who have both come to a convention in sexy, hot Antigua, and come face to face with one another again!

For those of you who know my writing, you know that I write deep dark characters with lots of baggage and it's not often that I venture into contemporary, everyday settings. However, a while ago I realized that I needed a bit of a change, and I wanted a challenge as well. As such, In Bed with the Competition was born! (Actually, it was originally called Corporate Holiday--but that was a really boring title LOL)
