Sex With Sue

Sue Johanson is Canada's foremost sexual educator and counsellor, and recipient of the distinguished Order of Canada. For the last 30 years, she has provided frank and honest sexual education to thousands of Canadians through her lectures, radio programs, and the Sunday Night Sex Show on television. Since 2002, Sue's wisdom and experience have been available to American viewers on Talk Sex with Sue Johanson, a live phone-in program airing on Oxygen TV. Talk Sex also airs in Brazil, Israel, and in 20 European countries in 5 languages on Club TV.

I remember seeing Sue's show on late-night television when I was younger and was amazed that there was actually someone out there right on public access television and radio, giving frank and valuable information to teens about sex without being prudish or condescending. She didn't preach, she didn't lecture. She understood that sex is a part of life, and that everyone is curious and is going to do it, and she just wanted them to know how to have fun with it and be safe.

Sue was recently on the Steven and Chris talk show, and here's a funny clip (It's a bit long, but try and watch to the end, it's really good):

When you were young, who was the person that you were best able to go to with questions about sex?

I was really little, and I asked my poor grandmother, who was horrified. I think I talked about planting baby seeds and she just switched the subject, LOL. But I do remember the look on her face. And then there was the boy next door who operated the Dirty Birds Club in the Sullivan twins' playhouse. He was very free with info. All of it wrong.

I love Sue. I got to meet her about eight, nine years ago! We released a cd-rom with all of her valuable advice at my old old job! She's an amazing, fun woman! And I'm glad I got to meet her.

My mother told me about sex. I remember my brother laughing through it. I have talked to my kids both about it, and we continue to have an open line of communications about sex. (they are four and seven). I'm arming them with enough education (hopefully) that they make the right choices without naiveté.

Oh, Maggie. I hope you didn't listen to any advice from the dirty birds club. Yuck.

Tiff, that's awesome. It's so important that kids get the right information and I want my son to be able to talk to me or his dad about anything, especially when it comes to sex.

OMG you know what's funny. She's really tiny, anyways she came to my college and I had a huge back pack and I didn't know she was behind me. I almost took her out, if my friend hadn't of pulled me away I totally would have creamed her. LOL.

LOL, I love the part in the clip where she's joking about ejaculate whitening your teeth, and then she totally points at Chris' super bright choppers! :)
