Pictures!

I've got pictures from our camping trip. It was a lot of fun--even though hubby and son didn't catch any fish :)

I told you that we'd had a bear wander through our campsite didn't I? It happened last year too, but the camera was locked in the car--Well this year we got pictures! For a black bear, it wasn't huge, probably only a year old. But apparently while we were out hiking later on that afternoon, another one came by. One of the other campers across from us said that it was much much bigger. I'm glad we weren't around for that visit!

It was too bad I couldn't grab my camera fast enough to get a shot of this plane landing in the water with all the spray shooting out from beneath the skis. It was awesome to watch!

Hubby and kiddo love to go fishing--and I usually park a camp chair at lake's edge and read my book, or just watch them together. My two guys.

My son is going to be one of those guys who heads out into the wilderness with nothing but a compass and a ball of twine, then comes waltzing back weeks later looking just as crisp as the day he left. He LOVES hiking, camping, fishing. He loves animals and being out doors. Sometimes, I envy him his simple outlook on how life should be--and I hope he never changes.

Hi Tasha, how's your weekend coming along?

We went to Algonquin Park. I love going there. You can do any kind of camping that floats your boat, from easy-peasy car camping to portaging interior. Right now we're in-between the easy stuff and the harder stuff. When kiddo gets a little older we'll go back to roughing it a bit more :)

You're lucky that your son enjoys nature so much - my boys can't do without some "creature comforts"... I don't think Joey would last a day without his DS!

Mel, Don't get me wrong. We had a dvd player in the car and he brought along his handheld video game thingy for the drive. But those were mostly back up in case it rained.

I am compiling a list of places to go camping in Ontario. I have only been to Bass Lake, near Barrie (not...the best, not horrible) when we went with friends about 5 years ago. I think what made it horrible was that the people went with, two other guys left all the clean up and stuff to me. My hubby helped a lot, but they just sat around. I need to find better people to camp with, and I do need others, as hubby was never a camper until I came around....lol

Hmm...I am thinking a reader/author camping retreat! lol

I am definitely more of a car camper than a portager! lol Maybe one day.

Wow, great campsite, JK (Algonquin?)

We used to take the boys camping when they were that age. Still have all the equipment hoping that one day they'll want to go out on their own. But I'm of such an age now that I need a bed, not a sleeping bag. :(

(not that I miss sleeping in a tent during a thunderstorm either)

I have camped, but I am not a camper. For a woman who is married to an Eagle Scout, I was grateful my husband's idea of roughing it now is a cheap motel with no cable. But all my kids are avid outdoorspeople...they did not get it from me.

The kiddo is so CUTE!

Tasha, forget the camping retreat. My author "persona" wants luxury and relaxation. Think more along the lines of spa treatments and book readings around a fire at a ski resort with hot, muscled ski instructors. :)

Leah, I don't mind the camping thing once or twice a year. At this age, it's the perfect thing to do with my son.

Maggie! I don't doubt that you're totally NOT a camper!
