GUEST AUTHOR: Vivian Arend

Vivian Arend is hosting a Cowboy Countdown Contest. She’s popped in today to ask us to join her in getting ready for her latest release, Rocky Mountain Heat coming August 31st to Liquid Silver Books. And she’s got a question for us:

Have you ever slept out under the stars?

JK Coi: A while ago, my husband (then boyfriend) and I used to go out driving (read: parking) when we were young--and had no convenient apartment of our own to go to. There was this one park we used to go, and would take a blanket and spread it out on the grass so we could lie down and gaze up at the sky on really bright nights. I wouldn't say we would "sleep", but it was one of our favourite things to do.

Nowadays, we still love to hang outside and look at the stars. When we go camping in the summer, after our son is tucked into his sleeping bag, we'll stay up late and spread out the same blanket and cuddle up together to look at the stars.

Answer the question in the comments to be entered to win the prize in the Cowboy Countdown. For more info you can also come visit Viv's blog Where Dreams Become Reality.

Welcome to the Six Pack Ranch, where one sweet young thing plus the Coleman boys equals trouble with a capital T.

Six Pack Ranch, Book 1

Blake Coleman is old enough to know that acting on impulse causes nothing but a heap of trouble. But when trouble’s a blonde wearing a cowboy hat with slim legs that go on forever, what’s a man to do? Wanting the sweet girl next door is just wrong. Hell, he was the one that taught her to ride a horse and now all he can think about is riding her. The responsible thing to do is keep his hands off.

Jaxi has other plans for his hands, and his heart. She may have considered Blake a big brother once but that was a long time ago. She’s all grown up now and ready to convince him that she’s just what he’s been waiting for.

Add the complication of two sexy younger brothers who have suddenly noticed Jaxi and things heat up fast. Blake’s gonna have to decide if a little trouble is worth fighting for.

Ah, parking. I remember those days. Though we often stayed in the car, especially in the winter, LOL. Steamy clinches in the car, cops knocking their batons on the steamed-up windows--Ah, I mean, yeah, look at all those lovely stars!

A little over ten years ago we took the boys camping and while we were sitting by the campfire, we watched the stars - and the satellites flying past overhead.

This past week, we've been debating a bright "star" on the eastern horizon when we go to pick up our youngest from his evening shift. Although I think technically it's not a star, it's a planet.

Anyone stay up to watch the meteor shower the other night?

Hmmm. A campfire, smores, and snuggling under the stars in a sleeping bag.

I remember those days when you were so hot for each other that you couldn't wait for everyone to go to sleep. A calloused hand caressing a firm breast, hot, smooth lips slowly making their way from your ear to your collarbone.

Oh wait! We were discussing star gazing. Yes, I've watched the stars in the open night in a pasture. It's one of the luxuries of living in the country.

I'm afraid I missed the meteor shower the other night.

I missed the recent meteor shower. Didn't even know there was one. However, meteor showers and blankets under the stars play a big role in my husband and I getting together.

My best friend and I were at a party out in the desert when there was a meteor shower. It actually had a name because of the comet that was going past. There were hundreds of falling stars so we started wishing on them and talking about our perfect man. During the next week my BFF kept telling me she had met my dream man, the one i had described in detail (height, hair/eye color, played guitar, worked with his hands ect)I thought she was full of BS. Turns out while i was wishing on stars he was stationed in England. By the next weekend he had transfered to my base and we spent that weekend in the desert together. That was 19 yrs ago this month.

BTW he grew up on a ranch and wore cowboy boots.

Sorry I was MIA today. Hubby and I took off for a spontaneous weekend away yesterday and I just got back. I love doing stuff like that, except it plays havoc with my writing schedule :)

Leah, yep. Pretty sure I saw the same planet. I think it's Jupiter

Janis--when hubby and I were dating, it was all about spending as much time together as possible without the parental distractions. But since we went to school in different cities about two hours away from each other, and I usually had to work on weekends, that time was few and far between so we relished any moment we had--even lying in the grass under the stars.

Really? We were discussing stargazing? I think I missed that part...

Kytaira that's a fabulous story!

Uh...I have never gone parking.... And as for sleeping under the stars, the closest I have been to that is a tent that didn't have they fly on, and the top was mesh. *grin*

Tasha, honey. You're totally missing out. Next time you have the opportunity, even if you have a nice cozy couch or a bed or whatever--get in the car and go make out in the backseat somewhere :) I might actually drag hubby out to do that myself he he he

Last time I actually slept under the stars was at camp, without a tent. I loved the fact I was one with nature, but I keep thinking how the bugs would later crawl over me. I was zipped up all the way around my head for the whole night. Waking up in the morning it was worth it, though

I've never slept under the stars, but it sounds glorious. Nothing like looking at the night sky, and if you have someone to share it with, even better. ;)

Yes, I've slept under the stars. I prefer a cabin though because there's way too many blood thirsty mosquitos outside.

I think that I've been tent camping once, and it was many many moons ago! I can't even recall if we saw the stars that night! Now the kids are asking to go camping, and we're not really the outdoorsy type, so we'll have to find some friends to latch onto who can show us the ropes (and the stars, I guess!) :)

I'm not much of a camper, so I haven't slept beneath the stars. Does that make me boring?

Parking.... giggles.... nope not me.... LOL Yeah I have laid out under the stars but I have since quit on the camping thing.... the boys and hubs still do but I am not the lay in the bush and get eaten by bugs while a bear visits your site... yeah the last time I went that is what happened. I wish Viv all the luck in the world with her cowboy tales and wish I could grab ahold of one of them right now... LOL
